Discover breathtaking hiking trails in Bartın — the Black Sea's hidden paradise. From the Küre Mountains to Uluyayla, there's a route for everyone.
One of the Black Sea's hidden paradises, Bartın is not just a coastal town; with its lush plateaus, century-old forests, and tranquil village roads, it is a true treasure for nature hiking enthusiasts. Considering that 57% of the city is forest, a new trail awaits at every corner.
1. Küre Mountains National Park Route
Listed by UNESCO as "Europe's Lungs," the Küre Mountains are the pride of Bartın. Trails starting from the Ulus district take you to a different world through dense beech and fir trees. With a 4–6 hour hike, you can reach an altitude of 1,700 meters.
Tip: We recommend a guide — especially between April and June, the variety of mushrooms and endemic plants is incredible.
2. Uluyayla Trail
1,500 meters above sea level, weaving through mist clouds, the Uluyayla route is a dream for photography enthusiasts. We recommend starting at dawn — the valleys beneath the clouds at sunrise are breathtaking.
- Length: 8 km loop
- Difficulty: Moderate
- Best season: June–September
3. Cide–Amasra Coastal Hike
Running parallel to the coast accompanied by the stormy waves of the Black Sea, this route offers both mountain and sea views simultaneously. You can stop at villages along the way and taste fresh fish bread and tarhana soup.
4. İnkumu Beach Promenade
Ideal for families, this route runs on wooden piers parallel to the sandy beach. You can walk comfortably with children and enjoy lemonade with simit and cheese at the rest spots.
5. Hatipler Village Historic Path
Starting from Hatipler Village, where traditional wooden Black Sea houses are preserved, the trail winds through chestnut and hazelnut orchards. At the village square's tea house, kaçamak and papara are must-tries.
6. Şirinler Waterfall Route
The reward of the hike, the 18-meter waterfall, is a refreshing rest point with ice-cold water even in summer. You'll find opportunities to drink natural spring water along the way.
7. Sökü Valley Nature Trail
One of Bartın's least-known routes, Sökü Valley is ideal for wildlife observation. Your chances of spotting roe deer, foxes, and wild grouse are quite high. A 3-hour escape accompanied by silence and the sounds of nature.
General Tips for Hiking
- Proper trekking shoes are a must — trails can be damp
- Carry plenty of water, nuts, and fresh homemade fruit juice
- Phone signal may be weak; download offline maps
- Keep the environment clean — take only photos
